Samoyedic peoples
The traditional livelihoods and cultures of the Samoyedic peoples have a lot in common with other Siberian peoples and the cultures and livelihoods of other northern Eurasian peoples. Such elements typical of northern peoples include shamanism and reindeer pastoralism or nomadism.
The people’s own language is usually the most vital among those sections of the population who still follow the traditional lifestyle and practise the traditional nature religion. Traditional lifestyles and livelihoods are, however, threatened by the oil and gas industry and the problems brought about by them, such as pollution and forest cutting.
